Sat 31 Aug 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Gungahlin Whitetails
At Walker park last Saturday on a glorious day the Yass U10's Redback team continued on with their stellar season by disposing of the talented Gunghalin Whitetails . This was the grudge match of the season as the Whitetails are the only team to inflict a defeat on the Redbacks . It was a wonderful display of junior soccer by the team and they maintained attacking pressure on Gungahlin team for the entire match . Our defensive line was solid with Zac Enseleit , Heath Buffington and Zoe Tritschler only allowing the ball through to our goal keeper on one occasion during the entire match.
Calvin Morgan scored the first goal for the Redbacks and although the team continued to dominate the Whitetails stood solid for the half time score to remain at 1-0 . The Redbacks maintained the dominance in the second half to impress all those who were spectating . It was Hamish Hunter who scored next for Yass ,finishing off some excellent team play . Jacob Garner then put it beyond doubt by scoring the Redbacks 3rd goal for the final score to be Yass Redbacks 3 to the Gungahlin Whitetails 0.
Once again it was a superb effect by this team and with one match left in the season it has been a fantastic year.
Sat 24 Aug 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Belnorth
The talented Yass U10 Redbacks team returned to Walker Park last Saturday to challenge the Belnorth Strikers.
The Yass team were slow out of the blocks but were still able to show early dominance with Bryce Battye and Heath Buffington unlucky not to score . Jacob Garner was able to get things started with the first goal. The next attacking raid saw Heath's shot sail over the top of the net but soon made up for it by scoring soon after. Ben luck continued the teams good work by scoring a well deserved goal in the next passage of play.
We then witnessed why this team has not lost a match since round one when the ball was played forward through the midfielders after some solid defence to Heath Buffington who then crossed it to Bryce Battye to blast it into the back of the net.
Cal Morgan and Hamish Hunter combined well to to then score their 5th goal just before half time .
The 2nd half was much the same as the first with Yass too strong for the Belnorth Strikers . Jake Garner was dominate and managed to score 4 goals in the half for the Yass Redbacks team to run out victors 9 goals to nil. It was another good win by the team although the coach thought they were not at their best on the day . They will need to be at their best next week as they take on the Gungahlin Whitetails , the only team to inflict defeat upon this team all year.
Sat 10 Aug 2013 - Majura Glory v Yass Under 10's
The Yass U10's Redback team traveled to Dickson last Saturday to take on the Majura Glory . The weather was perfect and so was the display put on by this talented team. It was all one way traffic from the kickoff as the Yass Redbacks were relentless. First to score was Calvin Morgan after good lead up work from the team. It was Calvin Morgan who scored again when his combination with Jacob Garner saw what only could be described as a brilliant goal. Heath Buffington scored a deserving goal next after playing strongly. Jacob Garner was busy in attack to score the next two goals for the Redbacks and Yass, unlike last week were pouncing on every opportunity. Ben Luck then blasted in a fantastic goal just before half time for the team to go to the break leading 6 goals to 0 against the Glory.
The Yass team continued to be unstoppable in the second half . Their kicking and passing game was excellent and the goals continued with Zoe Tritschler scoring next , Jacob Garner bagging the next three and Shyheim Williams scoring a well deserved goal for the full time score to end up Yass Redbacks 11 to Majura Glory 0. It was a excellent performance by the whole team.
Sat 3 Aug 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Gungahlin
The Yass U10's Redback side assembled at Walker Park to take on the Gungahlin Warriors knowing that it would be a tough match. The game kicked off and Yass went on the attack straight away and were playing excellent team soccer with Shyheim Williams, Max Hansson and Ben Luck pushing forward continually with the ball. Hamish Hunter was providing great support and it was he who put Yass in front with the first goal.
The Yass defensive line was solid with Zac Enseileit ,Zoe Tritschler and Jacob Garner not giving the Gungahlin side many opportunities to mount an attack. Yass continued to be the far superior side with raid after raid on the the Warriors goal. Heath Buffington was playing well in the mid field and Bryce Battye was having a determined game.
Gungahlin almost equalised when their shot popped up for Cal Morgan to save in goal. The Redbacks were all over the Gungahlin team but they went to the half time break only leading 1-0.
The second half started well for Yass as there was some great play but for some reason they failed to put the ball in the net. It was against the run of play that the Gungahlin side managed to score the next two goals for Yass to now be behind 2 goals to one. The Yass side were never going to give in and it was Max Hansson who scored the equaliser for a 2-2 score line.
The Redbacks always looked like they were going to win the game with great attacking efforts from Cal Morgan, Ben Luck, Max Hansson and Jacob Garner but the Gungahlin team to their credit held on for what would have appeared a unlikely 2 all draw.
Sat 29 Jun 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Marist
The U10's Redbacks soccer team assembled at Walker Park last Saturday to take on the Belwest Scorpians. The game began with the Redbacks going on the attack and their first goal came early off the boot of Calvin Morgan to lead 1-0. Yass were relentless and it was Jacob Garner who finished off good team play to score next. Only a few minutes later it was Jacob Garner who scored again for the Redbacks to now lead 3-0. It was close to half time when the U10's showed all their skills for Zoe Tritschler to kick one past the Belwest Goal Keeper for what was her first and well deserved goal of the season. Yass led 4-0 at the half time break.
The 2nd half began in the same fashion as the first with continuous raids forward with two great goals to Ben Luck. This was soon followed by Max Hansson with a good goal. It was Shyheim Williams who scored the next goal for the Redbacks after having a strong game. The game finished with the Yass Redbacks defeating the Belwest team 8-0.
It was another excellent performance by the Yass U10's.
Sat 22 Jun 2013 - Gungahlin Whitetails v Yass Under 10's
At Harrison playing fields last Saturday the mighty U10's Redbacks team assembled to take on the Gungahlin Whitetails. The Whitetails are the only team to have defeated the Yass U10's this season so they knew they were in for a tough match.
The first half was a tight contest with each team not letting the other get the better of them. Ben Luck and Cal Morgan were leading the way in attack with Hammish Hunter and Zac Enseleit playing strongly in defence. The Gungahlin team was determined and had several good shots on goal only to be well saved by Jake Garner as goalkeeper. The Whitetails continued to attack and eventually they were rewarded with a ball that past the keeper. Gungahlin went to the break leading 1-0 in a solid and entertaining match.
Yass were keen to start the 2nd half and the match continued in the same fashion as the first half with both teams playing determined soccer. Jacob Garner after great lead up was able to put the ball past the Gungahlin keeper to level the score. Noa Planten, Bryce Battye and Max Hansson were everywhere giving good support when Jake's second shot on goal deflected off the post to be stopped by the keeper and deny the Yass team the lead. Heath Buffington and Zoe Tritschler were strong in defence to stop the Whitetail attacking raids. It was Cal Morgan who had a shot just go wide late in the game for the match to end in a well deserved draw. Yass Redbacks 1 to the Gungahlin Whitetails 1.

Sat 15 Jun 2013 - Belnorth v Yass Under 10's
The U10's Redback team travelled to Kaleen last Saturday to take on the Belnorth Strikers.
In bright sunshine the Yass team was determined to continue on with their successful season. The game kicked off and Yass soon showed why they have been a winning team this season. Yass were relentless with continuous attacking play and should of scored on many occasions during the first 10 minutes of the game. Zoe Tritschler was so unlucky not to score her first goal of the season after some great lead up work by the Redbacks. It was Jacob Garner who was first to score to get things under way. Cal Morgan followed that up with a determined goal and shortly after that Ben Luck scored to allow the Redbacks to go to the half time break leading 3-0 against the Strikers.
The Yass U10 Redback's who never give in have become 2nd half specialists and it was going to be no different today with a 8 goal drubbing in the second half. Jacob Garner continued his good form with 3 more goals. Max Hansson, Bryce Battye, Zac Enseilite and Noa Planten all scored goals in the second half. It was Hammish Hunter who then scored just before full time for what was to be his first goal of the season.
The Yass Redbacks ran out convincing winners 11-0 in a wonderful team effort.
Sat 8 Jun 2013 - Belsouth v Yass Under 10's
The Yass Redbacks U10's Travelled to Hawker to take on the Belsouth Blue Marlins on a sunny Winters day.
The Yass team knew they were in for a tough game and with some players unavailable to play there would be no substitutes. Yass started well with Calvin Morgan and Bryce Battye unlucky not to score early in the match. Belsouth were first to score as the ball snuck past Zac Enseleit and this inspired the Redbacks to dig deep and play determined soccer. This resulted in Jake Garner being able to score twice before half time for Yass to lead 2-1.
The second half was a real arm wrestle with both teams playing strongly. Ben Luck, Heath Buffington and Max Hansson never stopped trying and were well supported be Zac Enseleit at fullback. Belsouth had other ideas and got the lead back with 2 quick goals.
This U10's Redback team never give in with Cal Morgan, Jacob Garner and Noa PLanten charging forward. This resulted in 2 more goals in quick succession to the talented Jacob Garner. Yass were now back in the lead 4-3 with not long to go. They was no easing up for this Yass Redbacks team and late in the game Noa Planton scored her 4th goal in 2 weeks to seal the match. Yass running out deserving winners 5 goals to 3 over a well drilled Belsouth team.
Sat 1 Jun 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Majura Glory
Last Saturday the U10's Redback soccer team assembled at Walker Park on the first day of winter to take on the Majura Glory. It was wet and miserable when the game kicked off with both teams struggling in the conditions. Yass were first to apply pressure and looked the better team with combination passes and could of scored on many occasions. Both teams went to the half time break with the score of 0-0.
The second half was to be a totally different matter, with the whole team stepping up to a higher level. It was Zac Enseleit from his position at fullback who struck the ball from 40m out for the best long range goal you will ever see, from this moment Yass Redback's totally dominated with Noa Planten scoring a hat trick of goals. She was well supported by Max Hansson, who scored a well deserved goal. Jacob Garner was playing a big game which resulted in him scoring. Heath Buffington, Calvin Morgan and Ben Luck were continually bringing the ball forward. The whole team was relentless, and in the dying minutes Shyheim Williams finished off a top game by scoring his first goal of the season.
At fulltime the two wet and cold teams finished with the score being Yass Redbacks 7 to Majura Glory 0.
Sat 25 May 2013 - Gungahlin v Yass Under 10's
The mighty U10's Yass Redback team gathered at Harrison to take on the Gungahlin Warriors.
The game started at a hectic pace with the Warriors putting Yass under immense pressure with numerous shots at goal which kept goal keeper Bryce Battye busy. The Yass defensive line was solid with Zac Enseleit showing strong committment and was well supported by Heath Buffington and Hamish Hunter.
Against the run of play Yass brought the ball forward for Cal Morgan to find space to drive the ball into the back of the Warriors goal for Yass to lead 1-0.
Zoe Tritschler was moved to the forward line and was unlucky not to score her first goal of the season. The Redbacks went to the halftime break with the match in the balance as the Warriors were not giving too much away against this talented Yass side.
The second half started in much the same fashion as the first and not before long Yass accidentally infringed in the goal square for Gungahlin to be given a direct penalty shot which resulted in a match leveling goal.
This kicked Yass into action with Shyheim Williams, Noa Planten and Max Hansson making good inroads up the centre. This resulted in a fantastic goal from Jacob Garner who managed to drive a high ball from 30 metres out straight over the Warriors keepers head. Redbacks now lead 2-1.
Yass now started to dominate play with wonderful interchanging of passes and excellent crossing of the ball. With a little bit more awareness the Redbacks could of easily scored on several occasions.
It was the ever consistent Jacab Garner who put things beyond doubt when he once again showed how it was done with a smashing goal past the Gungahlin goal keeper for the Yass Red backs to win a tight match 3 goals to 1.
Another great display from this U10's Redback soccer team.
Sat 18 May 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Radford Raptors
The Yass U10's Redback team played the Radford Raptors at Sunny Walker Park.
The game started slowly but Yass soon began to mount pressure with corner kick after corner kick and were unlucky not to score from this barrage.
It was Jacob Garner who was first to score for the Redbacks after some good team play for a 1-0 lead.
The team were now starting to show their skill level and their ability to play as a team when they scored possibly the best goal of the year. It was Heath Buffington from the fullback position who drove the ball down field to the ever present Noa Planten who controlled it skillfully to turn and quckly passed the ball up the sideline to Bryce Battye. Bryce then dribbled forward to drive the ball past the Radford goal keeper for Yass to lead 2-0 just on half time.
If you ever wanted to watch a wonderful display of teamwork from a junior soccer it was on display in this match from the Redbacks.
The whole team charged forward with precise passing and excellent team work.
Zoe Tritschler and Max Hannson were having their best game of the season.
Cal Morgan was showing all his skills and Zac Enseleit and Harmish Hunter were solid in defence.
This excellent display of team work resulted in further goals to Jake Garner, Bryce Battye , Ben Luck and Heath Buffington.
The Radford Raptors managed to score a late consolation goal for the full time score to be Yass Redbacks 6 to the Radford Raptors 1.
The coach and the parents were very proud of their performance. Well done to the whole team.
Sat 4 May 2013 - Yass Under 10's v Gungahlin Whitetails
The Yass Redback U10's soccer team began their season last Saturday at Walker park in glorious sunshine against the Gungahlin White Tails.
The game began at a hectic pace and Yass we forced to defend early.
New recruits Zoe Tritschler, Shyhiem Williams, Heath Buffington and Harmish Hunter showed their value to the team.
Yass were the first to score when Jacob Garner made a break down field to drive the ball past the WhiteTails goal Keeper for Yass to lead 1-0.
Yass were unlucky not to score again when Bryce Battye had a good shot on goal but the White Tail Keeper was good enough to save it from reaching the back of the net.
This sparked the White Tails into action and they bombarded the Redbacks defence to score 4 unanswered goals by half time to now lead 4-1.
The second half was a much more even affair as the Redbacks played with more determination.
Ben Luck, Cal Morgan and Zac Enseleit were playing strongly now and with good lead up work saw Jacob Garner score his second goal to make the score 4-2.
Yass now looked like a chance to be back in the match as the team had lifted it's efforts.
Noa Planten was strong at Goal Keeper and prevented several goals being scored.
The White Tails managed to score late in the game to finish the game with a 5-2 victory over the Redbacks.
The Yass Redbacks can be proud of their efforts against a well drilled Gungahlin team. Although a little rusty in their first game the U10's look like they are in for a good season.
